Each game tells a story

Translating your game in Dutch?

Translating a board game word-for-word can be tricky. In Dutch, some board game terms simply don’t have equivalents. While seasoned players might be well-versed in English phrases like “deckbuilding” and “drafting,” these terms can be puzzling for beginners.

Whether you have a game that’s language-independent and need Dutch rules or you’re aiming to translate the entire game, I’ll review your text to ensure it’s easily understood by Dutch-speaking players at all skill levels.

Need Dutch reviews?

I contribute articles and reviews to two distinct Dutch platforms.

Modern Myths is an online magazine that delves into all things fantastical! Their content spans various media, with a particular focus on genres like horror, fantasy, and science fiction. If you have a game that fits this profile, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Spel! is a physical magazine, published and distributed by Ducosim, a Dutch games club known for organizing the Dutch Game Awards. Within Spel!, I serve as an editor for the Roleplaying Games column. If you have an RPG worth checking out, I’m all ears and eager to hear from you!

Why consider hiring a demonstrator when you already have volunteers?
Indeed, dedicated volunteers are a tremendous asset. However, there can be certain challenges that arise. From my perspective, hiring me offers you a clear set of benefits.
1. Reliability: I’m committed and won’t unexpectedly cancel appointments. You can always rely on me.
2. In-Depth Product Knowledge: I invest time in thoroughly understanding your games, so I can convey the intended game experience.
3. Enthusiasm: Games are my passion, and I enjoy sharing my excitement, even after countless demos.
4. Professional Appearance: As your company’s representative at the table, I maintain a polished, polite, and spontaneous demeanor with your customers.
5. Sales Skills: I do not just explain your games. I sell them.
6. Networking: With years of experience in the gaming industry, I’ve built a wide network, offering recognition and trust.
7. Bilingual: I am proficient in English and Dutch

About me

I’ve always had a passion for stories and games. When I stumbled upon narrative board games, I couldn’t believe it. Did the best of both worlds truly exist? It instantly became my dream to transform my favorite story into a game.

As the years went by, I honed my skills as a writer, game author, and game seller at a FLGS. I immersed myself in writing techniques and game mechanics, and I worked on improving my proficiency in both Dutch and English.

The outcome? I now have the privilege of crafting stories and playing games every day. And the icing on the cake? Adventures in Neverland, my very own narrative board game featuring fourteen short stories, is being published by Black Box Adventures.

But, embarking on a journey to become a (game) author comes with its share of risks. I found myself head over heels in love and made the move from Belgium to the Netherlands.

Netherlands. Neverland. Well, pretty close, right?

I do not charge for reviews; my fees apply exclusively to translation, editing, and demonstration services.

My pricing is influenced by several factors, including the amount of time required, the notice given, and the potential for ongoing collaborations.

I’m more than willing to discuss your specific requirements and provide you with a personalized quote, with no commitment whatsoever.
